Accessing a Target Asset

With Sectona PAM, it is easy to access an asset. You can access a target asset using any of the following methods:

Taking session via Sectona Web Console

After logging in to the Sectona PAM web console with your username and password, you must choose the instance you wish to access target assets. For example, an XYZ parent organization may have subsidiaries such as ABC & DEF. You may either belong to XYZ, ABC, or DEF or be authorized to work on only target assets from XYZ, ABC, DEF, or all three. The Instance option will help you select and work only on target assets of any particular instance as required. You may be assigned a default instance based on the default configuration as defined by your organization's Sectona PAM administrator. However, if you wish to access target assets from another instance, you must select the respective instance from the drop-down list.
You will see a list of Assets and the corresponding Accounts. These are the Accounts that you have been granted access to. You may access your target Assets from this list.

  • Assets are target systems such as Windows Server, Unix Server, Databases, and Network Devices.

  • Accounts are privileged IDs corresponding to the target assets.

Taking session via Sectona Client

After you have logged in to the Sectona PAM solution through the Sectona client with your username and password, you will have to choose the instance you wish to access target assets. For example, an XYZ parent organization may have subsidiaries such as ABC & DEF. You may either belong to XYZ, ABC, or DEF, or you may be authorized to work on only target assets from either XYZ, ABC, or DEF or all three. The Instance option will help you select and work only on any particular instance's target assets as required. You may be assigned a default instance based on the default configuration as defined by your organization's Sectona PAM administrator. However, if you wish to access target assets from another instance, you must select the respective instance from the drop-down list.

In addition, you will be able to view the list of all the assets you can access.

Unlike web console access, there is no account view in the Sectona client. The purpose of the Sectona client is to access target assets directly and enable tabbed browsing.

Over the browser, you will not require a Sectona Client, but other types of access will require a Sectona Client application to access Sectona PAM.
