Configuring RDPD Proxy

RDPD is a software component that is part of the default production installation or can be installed as a standalone component. This can help system administrators to use any RDP client to access target systems. RDP Direct or RDPD worked as a supplementary component in the system, allowing users who require access to RDP protocol-based sessions without authenticating to the PAM portal. The RDPD proxy runs on a 64-bit architecture to improve RDPD performance and concurrent session capabilities.

This section covers the following:

Before you begin

Using internal RDPD Proxy

  • Navigate to System → Landing & Proxy Server.

  • Click on +Add New Proxy Server(s) and select RDPD Proxy from the drop-down menu.

  • Start the proxy service in our system.

Using external RDPD Proxy

To add an RDPD Proxy server on Sectona, follow the given steps:

  • Install the external proxy component on the server.

  • Navigate to the default path where the proxy is installed and search for Sectona.Vault.SessionProxyHost.Config.xml in the default installation folder.

  • Open the file in any text editor and edit the IP Address in the field for the IP of your proxy server.

  • Navigate to System → Landing & Proxy Server.

  • Upload the XML file generated during installation in the session proxy at an external server.

  • Pop-up provides data of proxy server configurations to be imported with Sectona Web Access.

  • Edit any required fields and ensure the password field is unedited as imported.

  • Provide a proxy reference name like Primary Proxy.

  • Port No: The default port used is 23389.

To allow the use of RDPD proxy, ensure that the RDPD service runs on the host where Sectona Web Access is installed. Once the RDPD service starts, you should see RDPDProxy.exe running in Task Manager.
