Setting up asset discovery

To know what your IT environment consists of at any point in time, you may leverage the asset discovery capabilities of the Sectona platform to discover which devices or assets are live in your environment. You can discover this information by running asset discovery jobs.

The asset discovery engine consists of a comprehensive set of environment specific functions to quickly locate assets in the hybrid environment. The output of all these individually executed jobs is added to the Asset Profiler or discovery job output of the system.

Running a scheduled or unscheduled job is necessary for situations such as when you want to access your network or when you want to ensure that certain devices are part of your PAM solution. Sectona PAM platform allows you to schedule asset and account discovery jobs for discovering assets and accounts across hybrid environments respectively. This section will help you in providing the necessary information for scheduling asset discovery jobs.

Jobs can be scheduled to execute at a specific time or on recurring basis. You can add multiple scan jobs based on your network and refresh schedules.

Viewing job status and history information

To monitor discovery job stats, follow the below steps:

  • Click the Action button of the discovery job and then click on View Discovery History.

  • You can view detailed history status along with actions performed by clicking on any of the jobs in the Start On column.

Disabling a scheduled job

To disable a job anytime, take the following steps:

  • Click the Job title icon in the Asset Discovery tab.

  • Click on Active status to disable the job from executing it next time.

  • Click on Save and choose Save.

Executing existing ad-hoc job

To edit the already existing job, take the following steps:

  • Click on the Job title icon in the Asset Discovery tab.

  • Click on Save and choose Save+Run Now.
