Setting up test environment

The production environment is composed of many different components, such as operating system, database, and deployment topology. Plan the specifics of each component level to create a test environment. A dedicated test environment; including both server and network components, produces the most reliable results.

It is highly recommended to build the test environment for your setup for one or many reasons including

  • Testing system updates in your environment before production deployment

  • Testing component level specific issues like operating system patch dependency etc.

  • Building plugins or testing system configuration for specific users or interfacing system

  • Testing mass configuration environment changes like domain user discovery or password management

  • Creating a replicated production environment

  • To check the performance of system components
