Working with assets
This section will help you view the target assets available for access and guides you through the steps to access them. The purpose of accessing target assets through the Sectona PAM portal is to facilitate faster and easier access to target assets directly. You do not have to remember the credentials of the target assets. Moreover, within the asset view, you will see all the target assets you have been assigned authorized access. Click the arrow icon next to the desired asset and you will be logged on directly without having to go through the hassle of remembering all the passwords, which lets you focus on your daily business activities.
Depending on whether you access through the web console or the Sectona client, steps to gain access through both methods are described in this section:

Understanding the MyAccess interface
There are shortcuts provided in the left menu, to access the target assets with their purposes:
Quick Access | Purpose |
---|---|
Favourites | You can add certain assets that you visit at a higher frequency than most in the favourites tab. |
Recently Accessed | You can connect with the recently accessed assets under this tab. |
Connected | These are assets you are currently connected to. |
Most Accessed | These assets are the ones with most number of sessions. |
Never Accessed | These are assets that have been onboarded but never connected with. |
You can mark the asset as favourite and they would be populated in the favourite section
The following table includes the various actions in the All Asset view with their purposes:
Action | Purpose |

Asset category | The list includes operating system, database, router, switch, firewall, SAN storage, SAN switch, application, tape library, directory server, and cloud apps. |
Asset type | The type of asset like Windows, Unix, etc. |
Hostname | The hostname of the target asset. |
IP Address | The IP address of the target asset. |
Location | The location where the target asset resides. |
Status | The status indicates the availability of the target asset. The green symbol means that the target asset is available for access, whereas the red symbol means that the target asset is unavailable for access. |
The filter option maybe hidden. To enable the Filter option, please contact your System Administrator. They can enable it from System Defaults under Platform configuration.
Connecting to the target asset
Login to Sectona with your username and password.
Select the instance you wish to work on from the instance drop-down list from the top navigation bar.
Click on the > arrow in front of the asset, you wish to connect.
A side panel will appear, in which you can select the privileged account mapped to you to take access of the asset. Select the account you wish to connect with.Click on the desired access type.
You will be directed to the corresponding session with the target asset and account selected.
Accessing asset through Sectona Client
This section covers the step-by-step process to gain access to target assets through Sectona Client.
Understanding the asset interface
The following table includes the various actions in the asset view with their purposes:
Action | Purpose |

Instance | The Instance selected will display the assets a particular user can access. |
Asset category | The category of an asset is to be selected from the list. The list includes operating system, database, router, switch, firewall, SAN storage, SAN switch, application, tape library, directory server, and cloud apps. |
Asset type | The type of asset can be selected depending on the selected category. For example, if you have selected Operating |
Hostname | The hostname of the target asset. |
IP address | The IP address of the target asset. |
Location | The location where the target asset resides. |
The assets interface only contains the list of target assets mapped to you.
Connecting to the target asset:
Login to Sectona Client with valid credentials
A list of target assets mapped to you are displayed.
Click on the target asset you wish to connect to by selecting it from the corresponding asset category and asset type fields.
Once you click on it, you will be directed to your session.

Connecting to an Account
This section will help you understand the target accounts available for access and guide you to checkout and update their respective passwords. The purpose of accessing target accounts through Sectona is to ensure that you do not have to remember the passwords for the target assets and their corresponding privileged accounts. It gives you seamless single sign-on access to assets assigned to you. In addition, through the Sectona access portal, you can view all the accounts whose access has been assigned to you.
Checking out the password
One can checkout from an account by implementing the rules of checkout policy as provided during creating the policy. Follow these steps to checkout your account.
Login to the Sectona and the "My Access" section will appear in front of you.
Click on the > arrow in front of the asset, you wish to checkout the Password of.
Select the Account from the list of accounts displayed.
Next to Cancel button you can see the "Checkout" button.
Clicking on that you will see the account password checkout list which contains asset type, hostname, IP address, account and domain information.
Again, you will be asked to checkout or cancel. As you click on the checkout if the workflow assigned is zero, it will directly checkout, else a workflow request form will appear.
Fill in the credentials of the form and select the type you want to use as the password or access type and finally click submit.
You will be checked out from your account within some time.
Updating the password
User can update the password of the account as defined by your PAM Administrator in user access policy. Follow these steps to update the password of your account.
Login to the Sectona product and the "My Access" page will appear in front of you.
Click on the > arrow in front of the asset, you wish to update the password of.
Select the desired account.
Now at the bottom right screen, you can see the "Update" button.
Clicking on that you will see the Update Account Password window where you need to enter your new password and re-type the same.
Click on Update and your password will be updated.
Incase if this option is not visible, contact your PAM Administrator.
